Pregnant wife of ex-NBA player Danilo Gallinari attacked by shark

The wife of former Knicks forward Danilo Gallinari said on Friday she was attacked by a shark while pregnant with their third child.
Alongside a photo of herself bandaged up in a hospital bed, Eleonora Boi wrote on Instagram the attack occurred when she was near the shore on a “super crowded” beach in Puerto Rico.
“Thankfully, me and my baby are fine,” she said, adding she was rushed to the hospital where she underwent a successful surgery to treat the bite on her leg. She joked the shark would be hearing from her legal team soon.
The attack was confirmed on Thursday by Puerto Rico’s Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, who said an unidentified woman had sustained an open thigh wound that appeared consistent with a shark bite.
Carolina Municipal Police Commissioner Captain Rubén Moyeno later confirmed the victim was 39-year-old Boi, according to Puerto Rican news outlet El Nuevo Día.
Boi and Gallinari, both Italian natives, have been married since 2022. She works as a sports journalist and shares a 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son with the basketball player.
Gallinari, 36, was drafted by the Knicks in 2008 after playing professionally in Italy. Three years later, the 6-foot-10 power forward was shipped to the Denver Nuggets in a trade that brought home Brooklyn native Carmelo Anthony.
He has since spent time the L.A. Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks. Gallinari currently plays for Puerto Rico’s Vaqueros de Bayamon.
