Ilhan Omar wins fifth term representing Minneapolis in Congress

MINNEAPOLIS — Rep. Ilhan Omar won a fifth term in Minnesota’s 5th District, which covers all of Minneapolis, beating her GOP opponent John Nagel.
Her victory comes as she’s under investigation by the Trump administration over alleged immigration violations. Federal agents raided her Washington, D.C., home in October, confiscating her cellphone, laptop and passport, and subpoenaed some of her family members, including her sister.
Omar has maintained her innocence and has raised funds off the raids and President Donald Trump’s frequent attacks on her. Omar’s campaign said last month that the congresswoman has seen a “huge windfall” in fundraising since the raid.
Omar faced tough Democratic primaries in recent cycles, but she won a five-way Democratic primary in August with more than 80% of the vote.
