ANAHEIM, Calif. — More than three decades after Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne brought Ozzfest to San Bernardino area, the heavy metal festival is returning to the venue that helped launch it.

Ozzfest will take place at Glen Helen Amphitheater near Devore on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2027, as part of a three-city return that also includes stops in the United Kingdom and Mexico. The announcement marks the festival’s first edition since 2018 and its first since the death of Ozzy Osbourne in July 2025.

The San Bernardino concert brings Ozzfest back to one of its original locations. On Oct. 26, 1996, the festival took over what was then known as Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion with a lineup that included Osbourne, Slayer, Danzig, Sepultura, Fear Factory and Biohazard.

What began as a two-date event in California and Arizona eventually grew into a traveling festival that helped introduce a new generation of metal and hard rock bands to larger audiences.

Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, Ozzfest became a touring platform for acts including System of a Down, Slipknot, Korn, Disturbed, Linkin Park and Lamb of God, many of which went on to headline arenas and festivals of their own. The event also expanded internationally before shifting toward occasional standalone concerts in its later years.

Its most recent edition took place on New Year’s Eve 2018 at the Forum in Inglewood, where Osbourne headlined a bill that included Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Jonathan Davis, Body Count and DevilDriver.

The festival’s return follows Osbourne’s final performance on July 5, 2025, at the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, England. The event reunited the original members of Black Sabbath for one last performance in the city where the band formed. Osbourne died 17 days later at age 76.

Sharon Osbourne, who co-founded Ozzfest with her husband, will oversee the lineup for the 2027 events. Artists have not yet been announced.

“Ozzy was the first to launch his own traveling metal festival,” Sharon Osbourne said in a statement. “And Ozzfest will always remain an important part of Ozzy’s legacy.”

Earlier this year, Sharon discussed plans to revive the festival during an appearance at the MIDEM music industry conference in France. She recalled conversations with her husband about whether Ozzfest could continue without him and said he had supported the idea.

The 2027 run will begin July 10 at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes, England, before heading to San Bernardino on Sept. 11. It will conclude Sept. 18 at Estadio GNP Seguros in Mexico City, marking the festival’s first edition in Mexico.

Early-bird tickets for the three events are on sale at Ticketmaster.com and Ozzfest.com. Additional lineup and ticket information is expected in the coming months.
