NEW YORK — Funkmaster “Funk” Flex was caught throwing down during the Knicks’ season-opening game at Madison Square Garden Tuesday night.

Flex, a rapper and the long-running radio host of New York City’s Hot 97, took to Instagram early Wednesday to reshare viral video of the heated confrontation. The original caption alleged that Flex was “reportedly assaulted” at the famous Midtown Manhattan arena, but the popular DJ also wanted to share his side of the story.

“HAHAHAHAH! ASSAULTED WHEN? IM MINDING MY BUISNESS?” Flex wrote in response, adding a long line of laughing face emojis.

In the clip, Flex, wearing all black, can be seen cutting through a crowd of people, beelining toward another man on the other side of the room. Before he reaches his target, Flex is blocked by security and dragged outside.

Funk Flex also shared a screenshot of an email he received from TMZ, asking about the fight.

“HAHAHAHAHA! PLEASE! YOU WISH I GOT PUNCHED IN THE FACE!” he wrote.

The rapper then shared a clip from another angle, which shows the chaos sparked by the sudden altercation.

“THIS WHERE I GOT PUNCHED IN THE FACE?” he wrote in the caption, again adding laughing emojis. “YEAH RIGHT! I DIDNT SEE THAT PART!”

Flex repeatedly referred to the other person involved as “Shadow,” also identifying him at one point as “that record company guy.” He alleged the man threw a drink at him and called him a “broke n—,” all in bid to start a fight. Flex further claimed the man was trying to rile him up and get him to throw the first punch so that he could sue.

“YOU TRYING TO GET A MONEY GRAB OFF ME?” Flex added before plugging his radio show.

In a statement to TMZ, a rep for TT Torrez — who worked with Flex at HOT 97 before leaving last year — said her husband was the one Flex had been pursuing in the clips, adding that the rapper also got physical with her amid the confrontation.

“What was meant to be an enjoyable evening out for Mrs. Torrez and her husband became a deeply disturbing and traumatic experience,” the rep said. “A verbal exchange between her husband and Funkmaster Flex escalated into a physical confrontation in which Funkmaster Flex shoved her violently.”

Authorities confirmed they responded to the arena on Tuesday to investigate reports regarding a dispute involving a 45-year-old female and two males. When she approached one of the males, he pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground and sustain pain to her right hip. She refused medical attention at the scene and no arrests were made, according to the police report.

An investigation into the matter remains ongoing. An NYPD source said it is being treated as misdemeanor assault.

“The brief video circulating online does not tell the full story,” Torrez told TMZ. “What the public saw was a husband defending his wife.”

Her rep added that Torrez has “endured years of ongoing harassment, intimidation, and bullying by her former colleague.” Instead of taking the feud public, she went through the appropriate legal channels, resulting in “a settlement with MediaCo Hot97 and a non-disparagement agreement, which Funkmaster Flex has continued to violate.”

The incident took place at the Knicks home opener against the Philadelphia 76ers Tuesday night. In the end, the defending champion Knicks were bested by their rivals, 106-100. It was also the same night the Knicks saw their 2025-26 NBA championship banner raised to the rafters of Madison Square Garden, their first in more than 50 years.
