Auto review: 2026 Nissan goes all out with Armada Platinum Reserve
Published in Business News
When it comes to big SUVs, the market is flooded with options, from the Chevrolet Tahoe to Ford Expedition and even the Toyota Sequoia.
Plus, who could forget the Lexus LX, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade and Jeep Wagoneer?
Within this flooded category, manufacturers offer a lot, including size, space, storage and comfort.
In Grasso’s Garage this week, we have the super-sized 2026 Nissan Armada Platinum Reserve 4WD. This seven-seater, three-row SUV is big, bold and boxy.
While Nissan Motor Co. has done a good job in the past of delivering exceptional comfort, the Armada is no different. Boasting very cushy captain’s seats in the first two rows, Nissan stands out from other non-luxury brands that struggle with comfort.
Riding on 22-inch machined and painted wheels, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine produced 425 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Paired with the familiar Nissan nine-speed automatic transmission, the Armada Reserve was very smooth.
With a $80K base price — the new normal in this SUV category — the 2026 Nissan Armada is ready to ride.
On the interior, we noticed a panoramic moonroof with headliner illumination, plus 12-way power seats that are heated and ventilated. Additionally, the 14.3-inch color infotainment system includes SiriusXM, Google Assistant and a Klipsch Premium Audio system paired with 12 speakers.
As an off-road-designed SUV, the Armada offers its first ever PRO-4X grade, which features all-terrain tires, off-road specific front bumper with skid plates, electronic locking differential and adaptive electronic air suspension. The Armada stands out from other SUVs significantly, as its fenders are flared and boasts Lava Red accents.
Our Platinum Reserve 4WD tester model was all about comfort and looks while still having typical Armada off-road capabilities.
In the overpopulated SUV category, the Armada tends to get lost amid the American-made options that lead in sales. Yet reliability is truly what sets Nissan apart, in addition to the exterior aesthetics that have always been the Armada’s strong suit.
